La Esperanza is a Kicwha community located in the heart of Ecuador's central Andes, 3.600 meters above sea level.
We are approximately 60 families, 350 people. We live primarily from livestock farming and agriculture, working the steep, rugged fields of the central mountain range.
The community tourism project began in 2013 and 2014, thanks to the support of the Italian non-profit organization Ayuda Directa, and is being developed to be managed directly and independently by the men and women of the community.
Sharing our daily lives with tourists represents an opportunity for mutual growth and a way to promote and enhance our traditions and culture, ensuring they are not lost in an increasingly globalized world.
